Defending the Rights of Psychology and Psychologists in Lebanon
Since its inception, Nafsaniyoun has stood not only for psychological knowledge but for justice, dignity, and the professional rights of psychologists across Lebanon.
From 2017 onward, the Advocacy Department has played a leading role in protecting the field from harmful policies and legal restrictions. When Law No. 8 was introduced in 2017, we spoke out strongly against its problematic articles, particularly those that marginalized psychology students and unfairly restricted their right to practice. Through organized campaigns and public pressure, we successfully reversed the provision that excluded research-track students from becoming licensed psychologists.
Nafsaniyoun also takes a clear stand in the elections of the Lebanese Order of Psychologists, running on platforms that resist sectarianism, partisanship, and institutional corruption.
OUR GOAL is to ensure that the council remains professional, independent, and rooted in the values of psychological ethics and public service. Beyond legal action, the department organizes:
• Advocacy campaigns and legal consultations
• Public lectures and awareness seminars
• National responses to violations of psychologists' rights
• Initiatives supporting psychology students and early-career professionals
The Advocacy Department continues to respond to pressing psychological and social issues in Lebanon always standing for the integrity of the profession and the protection of those who practice it.
