Presented by the Head of the Training Department at Nafsanion, Psychoanalyst Dr. Elie Abou Chacra.
Content and Objectives of the Training:
This training is part of a series of three parts. The first part focuses on Freudian metapsychology, the second on ego psychology and object relations theories, and the third on neuropsychoanalysis according to Mark Solms’ studies.
The first part centers on psychoanalytic theory in its foundational aspects, which are essential for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of psychoanalysis from its inception to the present day. The first part of the training addresses four approaches to understanding the psychic apparatus:
• The economical Approach: This approach examines the interaction of psychic forces in producing desire and inhibition. Key concepts include:
1. Theories of drives, instincts, and their differences.
2. Principles of the psychic apparatus (pleasure principle, repetition compulsion, constancy principle).
• The Dynamic Approach: This approach studies the conflicts between psychic forces. Key concepts include:
1. Unconscious conflict.
2. Defense mechanisms.
• The Structural Approach: This approach examines the theoretical conception of the components of the psychic apparatus from two perspectives:
1. Unconscious/Preconscious/Conscious.
2. Id/Ego/Superego.
• The Developmental Approach: This approach studies the theory of human child development according to psychoanalysis. Upon completing the first part of this training, participants will be able to:
- Grasp the theoretical foundations of psychoanalysis and dynamic psychotherapy, preparing for understanding the subsequent developments leading to contemporary dynamic theories. - Prepare theoretically for those interested in specializing in contemporary dynamic psychotherapy.
